How to play
- Pick a map and difficulty, then start. Enemies follow a fixed path — if they reach the goal you lose lives.
- Select a job in the bar and click (or tap) an empty cell next to the path to place it.
- Killing enemies earns gil. Spend it on new jobs or level-ups (up to level 5).
- Click a placed job to level it up, dismiss it, or change its targeting priority.
- Every 3 cleared waves charge the LB gauge by 1. Spend it on Shield Wall (party mitigation), Healing Wind (full heal + revive), Braver (single-target nuke) or Meteor (area bombardment).
- Call the next wave early to earn bonus gil based on the time remaining.
- Survive all 40 waves to win, then push your limits in endless mode.
What is XIV Job Defense?
XIV Job Defense is an unofficial, non-commercial fan-made tower defense game inspired by the jobs of FINAL FANTASY XIV. It runs entirely in your browser — no download, no account. Your units have HP and enemies attack while they march; only tanks can slow their advance, healers heal and raise the fallen, and DPS exploit melee/magic/ranged weaknesses. All 21 jobs, 11 enemy types, 5 maps inspired by the cities of Eorzea, 40 waves plus an endless mode, and 3 difficulty levels.
The three roles
The combat triangle: tanks hold enemies back, DPS grind them down, healers keep everyone standing. Enemies attack while marching and only slow down while beating on a tank. Four tanks all pack a lethal-save and Rampart, each guarding in its own way. Four healers support differently, and every one of them can Swiftcast Raise the fallen. Thirteen DPS carry melee, magic or ranged damage, and exploiting enemy weaknesses is their job. See the strategy guide for each job’s identity.
Strategy basics
Setup time is unlimited until you press Start, so build your opening line carefully. After that, early wave calls are your economy: the safer your defense, the sooner you should call. Gil compounds best when concentrated — pushing an ace to Lv5 beats spreading thin. Links (Cover, Kardia, Closed Position) and pets (fairy, turret, carbuncle) can be re-assigned at any time, so read the wave preview and reshuffle before each wave. The LB gauge fills one bar per three waves: saving three bars for boss waves or spending singles to smooth the road is where skill shows. See the strategy guide for details.
